Text Box: PASTEL BALL PYTHON

BLACK STRIPE / BLACK BACK

Genetics: Some Lines claim to be recessive our lines are a dominate line.

Morphs Variations:

White Back Albino (Black Stripe and Albino),

 Black Stripe Pastels

Barbed Wire Spider

(Still lots of potential with this morph)

This is usually a dominant trait, no super has been discovered yet.  These are not to be confused with known co dominant black backs like the het red axanthic or Lori balls which are different morphs.  These snakes are easily noted for the lack of pattern over the dorsal area.  Their side patterns do not make bands and ideally stay low to the sides.  A bit of pattern along the neck and at the tail is common but the back should be clean.  Some are more black where others are more of a brown blushing, selectively breeding for the look you want would be key here.  We have a male that is more brown but cleaner backed and the female (pictured above on the blue background) is more black but has more pattern on her back than we would like.  By crossing the two we produced babies that were dark like mom but had dads clean back stripe.  If I were to breed to a pastel or orange ghost I would go for one with lighter color and more blushing as those are desirable traits for those morphs but with albino (the project these will be put into) I want solid black to hopefully produce a solid white back without the blushing.
